May Favourites

Hello Everyone! I know this post will be going up at the beginning of June lol but I still wanted to include it as I’ve been LOVING some great things throughout May 😊
I hope you all enjoy this blog post.. if you would like to see the video version.. head on over to my YouTube channel — http://www.youtube.com/hannahsmithswj 😊

Right…let’s dive in!

Cruelty Free Beauty

So.. this month I purchased a whole new skincare range from The Body Shop… I was having some problems with my skin (excess oil and break out, which I don’t normally get) that I put down to the skin care I was using.. as I was walking to Boots I stopped at The Body Shop’s window and thought I’d give them a try instead!

I got a whole range from cleansing, makeup remover, creams and exfoliants.. let’s just say.. I went all out lol! I was also assured that all the products I purchased had NOT been tested on animals as that is what The Body Shop Prides in.. #foreveragainstaninaltesting and this was great for me because I wanted to change all of my beauty /makeup to cruelty free… So Beauty/Skincare –} ✓

So I’ve been using their products for almost three weeks and I LOVE them! My favourites have to be The Cleansing Butter and The Refreshing Eyes Cube these two are just amazing!! The cleansing butter literally melts away your makeup, including eye makeup! (Be gentle!!) And the refreshing eye cube is perfect to give you a bit of a wake up call in the mornings.. it’s cooling and refreshing under the eyes with a hint of pigment to make your eyes seem a little brighter!

I would highly recommend all these products I have purchased and used as they are so GREAT! The Vitamin C Microdermabrasion Exfoliator is amazing too and leaves your skin feeling amazingly soft.. and finally the Vitamin E range is perfect to suit all skin types.. the day moisturiser which is called Sorbet gives your skin a matte appearance but still feels moisturising..

So yes… These products I’m absolutely LOVING and I WILL be back to repurchase once I need to.. The one thing I think The Body Shop could do to help new buyers.. is maybe get a selection of ‘Skincare Minis’ just so people could try the products out before spending a lot of money on full size items… Just a thought 😊

Fleur DeForce Eyelure Lashes – 3/4 Length

I’ve had probs for a while now where I have big gaps in my eye lashes… So when I put Mascara on they just look weird and you can really notice the gap (I’ve been told it’s a family trait!) So I wanted to get some False strip lashes… My sister raved about Fleur’s Lashses (Fleur Loves) so I decided to pick myself up some too..

The great thing about these lashes is that they are 3/4 Length so you don’t have to cut them down!! Also on application they are so easy!! I wear them every day and people have said to me that they look really natural and pretty, which is lovely to hear.. I was a little self conscious about my own eyelashes, however now I can wear these with pride and I don’t even use Mascara! They fab!

My New Bullet Journal

For my birthday this year, my amazing boyfriend bought me a new Bullet Journal.. this one was a Leuchtturm 1917 fuchsia pink colour and I LOVE it!! I love how the pages are already numbered too! I won’t talk too much about it because you all know how much I love bullet journalling and hows it’s helped me.

I have got some new colouring pens however, which I love too.. They are the PaperMate Flair Felt tips, TomBow ABT 623 Pens and Staedtler Triplus Colour Pens. I really love the different colours and styles of these pens.. and they don’t bleed in the pages too.. although the I’m now not allowed to buy anymore as I have far too many now lol!

New FaceBook Group – ‘Chat MS’

For a while now I’ve wanted to set up a group of some discription for young people living with Multiple Sclerosis.. being diagnosed at 24 I felt quite alone and almost out-casted because I couldn’t do the normal things a 24 year old could do… Even though my true friends were and are amazing.. I just wished I had someone to talk to who really understood what I was going through.. this is when I decided to create the Facebook group “Chat MS – Newly Diagnosed/Young People” a lovely fellow blogger Natalie from http://www.survivinglifeshurdles.co.uk has and is helping me to make our group grow and I absolutely love it! We have around 13 members are the moment.. but will welcome more with open arms.. this is something I feel very passionately about and I’d love to be there for younger people living with this chronic illness.

Natalie designed a fabulous graphic piece for our background :- Please share our group so hopefully more people can find us 😊  https://www.facebook.com/groups/718223168361813/

Baths

Now who doesn’t love a nice relaxing bubble bath? I literally have baths all the time.. I find for me it relaxes me so much and helps with any MS nerve pains I may be experiencing.. just lay back.. put your favourite series on and relax! The more bubbles the better 😊😊

And that my lovely lot is the end of my May Favourites 😊 it’s only been a short blog because I’ve been so busy throughout May that it’s been difficult to note down everything I’ve been oving.. however the things I have mentioned are genuine favourites and this blog post is in no way sponsored.

Thank you for reading and have a lovely day 😊

March Favourites

Hello everyone 😊 how are you all?

So this blog post is going to be about everything I have been loving throughout the month of March! (It’s all mainly Beauty related this time lol)

I’ve also done a YouTube video on this too, so if you’d like to have a look at that then the link to the video is — http://www.youtube.com/hannahsmithswj

Right….Let’s get started!!

Origins

GinZing Moisturiser

In a previous post, I mentioned that I’m trying to go “Cruelty Free” with my skincare and makeup… I’m slowly but surely doing this.

I picked up a Christmas gift set from Origins on Boxing Day last year (seems so long ago now!) And it contained two of the items I’m talking about.. one of them being GinZing Moisturiser…

I was very excited to try this as I had heard so much about it. I did start using almost immediately and then for some strange reason I stopped.. it was the beginning of this month that i went back to it and wondered why I had ever stopped!! I LOVE it!! The delicious “Orangey” scent and how it’s so light, yet Moisturising! I use it morning and night and have seen lovely improvements with my skin since.. if you’re looking for a nice, lightweight yet moisturising moisturiser lol.. then this is the one for you.. it is however in the high-end range so best to save up for it and have it as a treat.

Origins Original Skin Serum 30ml

This is the other product that i got in the gift set last year.. and again I stopped using it then came back to it end of last month and have been using it ever since.. it’s such a lovely product with I’d say a “velvet” feel to it when applied.

It says to apply to serum mkr information and night, however I only apply it in the evening as I have a morning serum that keeps my skin from getting too shiny/oily throughout the day. Although I love this serum and I would recommend it for anyone (definitely speak to a Origins consultant before you purchase to check you skin type)

Origins “Out of Trouble” face mask

This is the main and newest item out of the range that I have been loving this month!! I had a sample of it at the beginning of the month as the consultant said it would help with any breakouts and my oily T-zone… She was 100% right and I have been using it 1-2 times a weeks and have definitely noticed a difference!! It has a month scent and leaves your skin feeling fresh and a little tight.. but not too bad.

I will DEFINITELY be building up my Origins skincare range this year. 😊

Lorreal Skin Active “Wash, Scrub and Mask All In One”

Now I know before you all say.. Lorreal isn’t “Cruelty Free” I purchased this at the begining of the month as I needed all three products at the best value for money, which this was.

I have been using it religiously for the last 4 weeks and have definitely noticed a difference in my skin.. less oily and my skin seems clearer!! I’ve heard a lot of talk about this product and how much people liked it . I shall be joining them for the time being until I can build up my Origins range. 😊

Elemis Balancing Toner

Now I’ve had this Toner since my birthday last year!! I have just recently started using it again to use it up.. but i still LOVE it!! I use it morning and night.. it has Lavender in it… So… At night it’s soothing and relaxing and in the morning it’s refreshing and cooling (perfect combination to me!!) It also helped my skin to stay Matte as well… Now the packaging does say to “spray onto a cotton pad the wipe of a cleansed face” however I literally spray it directly onto my cleansed face and that’s how I prefer 😊

My Bullet Journal!!

Now most of you all know how much I LOVE my Bullet Journal… It helps me with everything!! Staying positive, MS, planning and food..

I have been using this since the beginning of the year and still LOVING it now, so I thought I’d mention it in this month’s Favourites 😊

I have seriously noticed my stress levels have dramatically reduced since writing things and planning things in my journal… It just keeps me on track and i just LOVE “Ticking” things off once they’re completed!!

To any of my MS friends out there, if you’re struggling with things at the moment, I’d highly recommend to start a Bullet Journal.. it’s been the best thing I’ve every done 😊

And the rest of my Monthly Favorites you’ll have to check out over on my YouTube channel if you’re interested to see what else I talk about… I hope you enjoyed this post and if it’s given anyone any ideas for beauty then I’d love to hear from you?
Once again thank you for reading.. i hope you all have had a great weekend.

Much Love

February Favourites

Hello everyone, how are you all?

So in today’s blog post I’m going to be talking about some of the things I’ve been loving throughout the month of February. I’ve also done a YouTube video on this topic as well so feel free to go and check that out… my YouTube channel link is http://www.youtube.com/hannahsmithswj – The video will be up and ready for viewing at the same time as this blog post.

Right, because I’ve filmed a video on my monthly favourites… I’m not going to talk about all of the products on here too, only because this blog post will be extremely long!! So  are a few of the products I’ve been loving through this month.. Enjoy and let me know what you all think.

Food!!

As you all know if you follow me on Instagram (Instagram Account hannaheliza_1990) that I’m a massive ‘foodie’ I love food, eating and cooking it lol.. however since going through my MS relapse I’ve decided to relax a little and not feel that I’ve got to cook lavish meals every night, but I also need to make sure my meals are relatively healthy… this is where the #slimmingworld ready meals come in!

Slimming World is a weight loss/ lifestyle change plan based here in the UK. Its extremely well know and has recently developed ready meals from the plan to help keep customers on the weight loss track… when I was on the plan I used to love these meals, however it wasn’t just ready meals that they do, they also do sauces, soups, burgers, sausages and now more!! You can get all of these delicious products at Iceland supermarket and they’re £3.00 per meal (the ready meals) and they’re also quite a big portion so they really fill you up.

Even though I’m not on the Slimming World plan anymore, I have been buying these meals again for the simple fact that they are so good and help me so much… I don’t have to stand in the kitchen for ages in the evenings anymore after work.. which is when my fatigue gets quite bad… with these healthy ready meals, I can just pop them in the oven and then add some salad of veg of choice and its as simple as that!!

I’d highly recommend if you’re struggling in the evenings or suffer with any type of illness and just need to make life a little easier.. check the Slimming World meals out.. or try looking in your local grocery store for Healthy ready meals, make sure you check the ingredients to make sure you’re getting the right nutrients (by the way i AM NOT a nutritionist)

My Bullet Journal

I have been writing in my bullet journal since January 2017… A friend introduced me to it and since then I have become obsessed.. I’d definitely been a monthly favourite over the last couple of months already and I’m sure that will continue.

If you’re unsure what a bullet journal is I’d highly recommend that you check out Ryder Carroll who is the creator of The Bullet Journal (I’m not very good at explaining things lol) but basically It’s been my personal little diary, food log, journal and somewhere where I can just escape when I’m feeling low or down.. I also keep a log of MS symptoms, appointment discussions and things like ‘The Gratitude Log’ and I’ve created a new page recently called ‘The Achievement Log’ and this is where I write down one thing everyday that I have achieved.. it can be MS related or anything related.. if you have achieved one thing (which I’m sure you have) then write it down as it will help you keep a positive outlook.

I’m also very artistic and love colouring etc, so I make my bullet journal very colourful so that when I look through it, it just makes me happy.. however if I want to write a journal entry if I’m having a bad day (Which I’d definitely recommend to you all because we all have horrid days and to allow us to forget about them you just need to let it out!) Then that journal entry might be coloured in colours of my emotions at the time, however I then cover it with a coloured sheet of paper and then its *gone away* sort of thing.

If you’re artistic, organised and like structures.. then I’d recommend creating and starting your own bullet journal.. even if its to help you with anything that your going through as its really helped me!

Beauty/makeup

Beauty and Makeup that I’ve been loving in February… well all of it really!! Makeup wise I’ve been loving my Barry M Foundation.. its cruelty free, which I think I mentioned in a previous blog post and its really affordable at £5.99 in the drugstore UK (That’s in Superdrug UK)

I find that it goes on my skin really nicely, however I also find that if I apply too much then it doesn’t sit right on my skin and looks ‘cakey’ so make sure if you get this product to only use little amounts, its also build-able so you can use more if needed… It lasts the whole day again which I love and makes me feel flawless without needing to layer a lot of it onto my face!

I’ve also been loving the matching concealer (Flawless Light Reflecting Concealer) I mainly use this under my eyes, to combat those dark circles ladies! it’s not a thick consistency, in fact I’d say its actually quite watery.. I’m used to using the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer but I don’t think they’re cruelty free.. However this concealer for under the eyes is perfect for me.. I wouldn’t use it on blemishes because I don’t think it would give the desired effect..but I’m still using it and loving it… AND… will be repurchasing another one soon!!

dscn2701

So now moving onto my favourite lip-gloss I’ve been loving at the moment… that’s the Tanya Burr lip-gloss in colour ‘Lunch Date’

I had stopped using her glosses for a while because I fell out of love with them (I don’t know why) but have now rediscovered them again and this particular shade is my favourite! It looks perfect over a nude lipstick and the best part about it…. ITS NOT STICKY!! I hate a lip gloss that makes your lips stick together… Tanya’s ones don’t, they also make your lips feel quite moisturized too.. well mine anyway.. the gloss also lasts a nice length of time before reapplying.. I usually reapply at lunchtime and that’s it.. of course if I have a drink I reapply too lol… You can get these lip glosses I believe online and in Superdrug.. I hope they still sell them because they are my favourite and I’m running out!! Thank You Tanya!

dscn2702

And the final thing I’m going to talk about it a perfume I’ve been loving.. I got this for Christmas (No I don’t think it’s cruelty free but I got this as a gift so..) It’s the Clarins Eau De Jardin perfume.. its just got such a lovely light floral scent and reminds me of spring/summer time.. I love it and wear it most days.. I also get comments on it and it lasts really well too.. I also purchased a little travel perfume dispenser (Best invention EVER!!) and I also put a little bit of that inside too when I’m on the go or at work… it’s £33.00 for 100ml which I don’t think is that bad considering other perfumes out there.. if you like a light floral scent, go and give this a try.. I love it and I’m sure you will too 🙂

dscn2704

And that everyone is my ‘February Favourites’… I know I haven’t spoken about much or that this blog post is a little shorter than usual.. but I’ve mentioned a lot more products over on my YouTube channel and I’d be so grateful if you could check that out too.. the link is at the top of this blog post.

I hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend and I hope you’re all as well as you can be and I shall see you next week for another post.

Much Love

Cruelty Free Beauty & Makeup (Affordable)

Hey everyone me again!!

So, last year in December my friend was talking to me about going ‘Cruelty Free’ with her Beauty and Makeup – she said that because she still loved eating meat, cheese etc.. she didn’t want to go full vegetarian/vegan.. however changing her makeup to cruelty free products was definitely more of an easier jump to make… that’s when I thought exactly the same!! (She has some amazing ideas!)

I was vegetarian for a rather long time actually, I even tried cutting out as much diary product that I could as well.. (apart from cheese.. I LOVE cheese!!) however it just wasn’t for me at this moment of my life.. I try to eat veggie and sometimes try vegan food where I can.. and maybe one day I’ll make the transition.. but not today.

Makeup on the other hand… Makeup and Beauty… I could change and quite easily may I add.. I love trying out new products and thought that this could be my own little experiment.. I love watching other YouTubers showing their cruelty free products, however I never seem to see anyone sharing AFFORDABLE beauty products or makeup… so that was going to be my mission!!

All the products I’m going to be talking about are ALL Cruelty Free.. I’ve either asked the company outright, looked on the PETA website or actually looked on the packages too. That’s what I am looking for.. Beauty and Makeup products NOT tested on animals! Here’s what I found…

*Small Disclaimer – All these products I purchased with my own money.. I am not sponsored by any company mentioned and these are all my own genuine thoughts*

BEAUTY

SuperDrug is a Drugstore here in the United Kingdom, I’m not too sure if they’re based anywhere in the world, but they sell drugstore items mainly.. they also have their own range and I managed to find some Beauty Products created by Superdrug that DO NOT test on animals.. I tried them out.. and here’s what I thought.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The ‘Naturally Radiant’ range by Superdrug was the option that I went for, in the particular store I visited it was the only range I could find that had a serum,  day cream and night cream in it. All packaging on the back state that they do not test on animals and that these products are suitable for vegetarians and vegans.. The brightening serum is lovely! It’s like a light moisturiser and you honestly don’t need much at all (I accidentally put too much on once and it made my skin really shiny!!) it made my skin look nice and glowing I couldn’t tell if it did any difference to my makeup but it certainly made my skin beforehand feel lovely – I wouldn’t recommend this product for oily skin types.

The ‘Naturally Radiant’ Day and night cream…Again a little like the serum the Day Cream was quite light in texture, not too thick or heavy and when applied to the skin gave a nice natural glow.. I would definitely recommend this product if you feel that your skin is quite ‘dull’ or ‘lifeless’ I wanted to give my skin a bit of glow and I just wanted to look healthy really and this definitely for me made me feel like that. The Night Cream is a lot thicker and slightly heavier than the Day Cream, when I first started using it, it made my skin quite oily and almost as though my skin didn’t agree to it – I have combination/normal skin. However, I have recently been on steroids which has made my skin really dry and in some parts flaky.. This is where this cream performed wonders – well I say wonders, it was just lovely and my skin really absorbed the moisture.. I use the night cream even during the day at the moment, because the medication just made my skin so dry and tight.. I would definitely recommend this product for people who suffer with dry skin. Also these product has a lovely light scent to them as well.. an almost berry scent which I liked, however it wasn’t over-powering. Love these products!!

ORIGINS

So… Origins… I have wanted to try Origins for such a long time. Again all the Youtubers have made me really want to try this brand, however unfortunately it just wasn’t in my price range.. but, walking past my local John Lewis store I noticed that the Origins counter had a sale!! Not just any Sale… A Christmas Box Set Sale!! I went in headed straight for the counter and said ‘Excuse me, but does Origins test on animals’ I wasn’t 100% sure so I thought I’d better ask a professional.. When she said yes my eyes lit up.. I told her my skin type and she showed me the *above* gift set.. down from £54 to £21 now that was a bargain!! She recommended me these products for my skin type so I purchased it… I couldn’t wait to try it! In the gift set I had the famous ‘GinZing Scrub Cleanser and Moisturiser’ which smelt of orange deliciousness and I also got ‘Origins Original Skin’ Serum and face mask (the face mask turned into like a scrub consistency once you washed it off) and they smelt of roses (not the chocolates lol)

I started using these products straight away (yes the superdrug ones went to one side temporarily!) I fell in love with the GinZing facial cleanser, I loved the smell and how it made my skin look (a kind of tight look if that look even exists lol) The GinZing moisturiser too I loved as that seemed to make my skin feel matte and fresh – However I few weeks into using these two products, my skin started to feel really tight.. then when I was using it one morning, it actually burned slightly when I was using the facial cleanser.. I stopped using those two products because even the moisturiser was making my skin feel tight (Remember my skin type is Combination/Normal NOT Dry) I decided that these two products weren’t really for me and I needed something a little more gentle, I don’t think I’ll be re-purchasing these items again.

The Serum was lovely, it gave a velvet like feel to my skin and again I felt ‘glowing’ I think this was my favourite product in the collection, unfortunately the mask in the gift set I didn’t really like either.. Don’t get me wrong I LOVED it at first and couldn’t wait to try it.. but I’d say after the fourth time using it, it again made my skin feel really tight and sore so again I have stopped using this product.

My overall personal opinion of Origins is perhaps I wasn’t advised the right products for my skin type? Maybe on this first incidence I was just a little unlucky? However these products are rather expensive to purchase alone and I’m more hesitant to repurchase after how they made my skin feel.. I think I’d maybe go back one day, but for now.. I’ll stick to other more gentle brands.

Liz Earle

liz-earle-eye-cream

Liz Earle is definitely my personal FAVOURITE beauty brand out there!! I had a look on the PETA website and as far as I’m aware, Liz Earle DO NOT test on animals!! Liz Earle I would say is in between drugstore and High end in the beauty industry.. The products are so luxurious and affordable, you might need to save a little bit but they are definitely worth it!! I always try and save for Liz Earle and when I Can afford to buy it, its like my little treat for me! I can’t rave about them enough but if you’re looking for a cruelty free relatively affordable brand.. go with this!!

This is one of my most favourites… ‘Superskin Eye Cream’ I got it in a set a while ago for around £30.00 along with two other products (which sadly I have finished!!) This however is still going.. I’ve had it for about 4-5 months now and I’m honestly in love!! You only need a tiny amount, not even the size of a 5p and it still goes on beautifully. It comes in a pump bottle and you apply a little onto your ring finger and then gently either tap it around the eye area or as I like to do, glide it over your eyes (I call it.. giving yourself a little eye massage lol) After using it for awhile I found that my eyes just seemed a little brighter, they didn’t feel a ‘puffy’ and I even had compliments at how good I looked and how well I looked (I suffer with Multiple Sclerosis and sometimes I feel that I can look quite… knackered lol) All in all I definitely recommend this product and will definitely be repurchasing again soon.

Makeup

Barry M – Flawless Matte Finish Foundation & Flawless Brightening Primer

Barry M Flawless Brightening Primer *for dull skin, pore minimising, smoothing* When looking online for a new cruelty free primer and found that Barry M are cruelty free I was really intrigued! Then when I read the reviews of this primer I was definitely intrigued to try it for myself! I’ve been using it daily before I apply my foundation and I absolutely LOVE it!! It glides onto the skin, again it leaves a kind of velvet finish and I’ve noticed that it definitely slightly brightens my skin.. I’ve also found that my foundation and makeup in general lasts so much better once I’d applied this primer.. It was so affordable as well and I shall definitely be re-purchasing once I’ve used this one (All prices of products will be at the bottom of this blog entry along with links to the sites to purchase them from)

Barry M Flawless Matte Finish oil free Foundation *hydrating formula* Same thing applies to this foundation.. you know its funny, I’d never thought about purchasing a Barry M Foundation… I LOVE their nail varnishes and think I have one of each colour now but I never considered their actual makeup range… and I must say… I LOVE it!! The foundation is great!! The only slightly negative thing that I will mention is that it doesn’t really go on matte.. I’d say has a very slight glow to it,however once you’ve applied a powder it goes matte.. and honestly throughout the day I haven’t need to top up or retouch my face at all, which I must add is quite rare for me.. because I usually always have to use a blotting paper or something to reduce shine throughout the day.. but not with this foundation!! The only other small thing I’d say is that sometimes I have found it difficult to blend.. (Maybe I’m just impatient lol) I use a Real Techniques brush to apply and blend in.. so maybe a beauty blender might be slightly better? Other than that this is a great, affordable foundation and again.. I’ll definitely be re-purchasing this product again!

Barry M Flawless Light Reflecting Concealer

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Along with the foundation and primer, I also picked up this concealer.. I wanted something that was going to brighten under my eyes that was obviously cruelty free as well and came across Barry M’s Flawless Light Reflecting concealer.. Again I have been using this under my eyes before applying the foundation (And if I look particularly tired lol I’d use it after I’ve applied foundation too..) I like the applicator, however I tend to use my ring finger to gently blend it in around the eye area.. I’d say that it definitely makes the eyes look brighter, it’s not overly thick like the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer that I’ve used in the past (I do love that one but I don’t know if they test on animals or now!) I do like that the Barry M concealer isn’t overly thick, I would definitely only recommend this product for around the eye are only because it doesn’t have a massively good coverage and because it’s light reflecting I think if you were it put it on imperfections, it would show them up more. Other than that, this is a great highlighting concealer at a great affordable price that DOESN’T TEST ON ANIMALS! 🙂

KIKO

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Kiko Milano makeup, I only discovered this makeup in December 2016 when my friend had told me that she was going cruelty free with her makeup and skin care… she told me about Kiko and that they had a store in London, which is where we were for the day… AND… They were affordable and had a sale!!! ‘Billy Bonus!!’ So venturing in everything looked amazing.. It was also really crowded!! I decided to get a new concealer (This one was for main redness and imperfections) a lovely assistant advised me to get the ‘Full Coverage’ concealer and she even tested it on my skin… I loved it and still love it now! It has a very high coverage and also blends well too.. Say goodbye to imperfections.. Its not a liquid formulation more like a cream kind of one.. but very good and I use it every day.. And I shall be repurchasing too!!

The other thing that I got from Kiko was this *see above pic* gorgeous eye shadow called ‘water eye shadow in colour 208’ It’s called water eye shadow because you can blend a little with a little water to get a more vibrant colour.. It’s so gorgeous and I actually noticed it on an assistant who was wearing it as a highlighter.. It really caught me attention, when she told me that it was an eye shadow I was amazing and purchased it at once… I loved the fact that it could be used for both purposes.. I still love this eye shadow and use it as both eye shadow and as a highlighter and I’ve even had comments from people asking me if this was the Anastasia highlighter lol.. I said nope… it’s KIKO!!

Urban Decay Naked 3

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

And last but certainly not least.. It’s the only high end cruelty free makeup that I own and that is my Urban Decay Naked 3 Eye Shadow pallet.. I got this for my birthday last year when my sister took me to Norwich for a make over with Urban Decay.. I’ve always wanted one of these pallets but could never justify buying one because they were just too expensive!! (£38 for this is ridiculous) However.. I do love it… the colours are beautifully pigmented and they blend well too.. there’s nothing that I don’t dislike about this pallet.. Also it’s lasted almost a year so… Yes it’s expensive.. but it does last a really long time so you can kind of justify for that and I think I will be repurchasing this again once this one has run out!!

Well, I’m sorry that this entry has been a little long lol.. and I also hope you enjoyed reading it. Please leave me any comments and I’ll be sure to reply to them and also I made a video about my Cruelty Free makeup and Beauty over on my YouTube channel and I’d be so grateful if you could check that out 🙂  My YouTube channel is:-

5 Easy Tips for Clearer Looking Skin (Advice)

Hi everybody, how are you all?

In my recent YouTube video I spoke about how I have obtained ‘clearer skin’ firstly I want to point out that I’m not a dermatologist.. some of my tips may work for some people but not others and I’m not saying that you HAVE to do what I do. I just wanted to get out to people how I’ve got clearer skin and kept it that way… so… let’s go.

12063754_1514095245579669_3199620928777317868_n

  1. Water

Now water has only recently come into my life quite recently (I’d say within the last year), I try and drink 2 litres of water a day, sometimes I don’t because I either forget or just don’t want any or I’m not thirsty. I knew that water was very good for the body but I didn’t really think about my skin. I have Oily/Combination skin type and personally… nothing was going to help and reduce the oil.

However, since drink 1-2 litres of water per day, I’ve noticed that I’m feeling good (no headaches etc) and that my skin was becoming a lot clearer – this may also be due to my age and getting old, but I still get spots and my skin type is still Oily/Combination.. I’ve just notice since changing to more water that I’m not getting as many spots and my skin isn’t as oily as it was.. Its a perfect way to start your clearer skin boost!

2. Diet

As most people know I have been Vegetarian (just turned Pescatarian) for a while now, I’m not going to talk about how being vegetarian has transformed my skin and made it perfectly clear and glowing.

What I have found though is eating healthier, more fruit and veg more wholesome foods and less rubbish – junk food.. so not so many take aways, chocolate or crisps.. I try to substitute the foods that I love for slightly healthier options.. for example if I fancy some chocolate I would have dark chocolate instead of milk.. crisps I would have low salt/low fat ones instead of those giant packs that feeds 4 (yes I used to eat those.. especially the salt and vinegar chip sticks – they are amazing!!) When I fancy a chinese, I’ll try to recreate my own slightly healthier version.. same with fish and chips and chicken (obviously I use quorn for that)

I have found changing my diet and eating slightly healthier and cutting out all the junk, that not only have I felt better in myself.. but also that my skin has started to clear also. Don’t get me wrong though… there are times when I like to stuff my face with dairy milk and eat packets and packets of crisps.. and murder all of the vegetable spring rolls from our local take away… we are just human after all.. however most of the time I try and stick to the healthier options

3. Make up

So… Makeup! Now I’m not a makeup Artist and I’m not here again to talk to you about how and what make up to apply. Again this is only very recently (I’d say in the last few months really) I’ve been trying to wear less makeup.. this is been exciting and frightening for me all at the same time!

When I was younger, I was picked on quite a lot for my skin – It wasn’t very clear.. in fact I had a few too many spots and wasn’t great in covering them up. My mum very kindly got me some Clinque products to try (my first ever skin care routine) however at the age I was I didn’t really understand and I kept forgetting to use them and still carried on using face wipes (if you use face wipes and have no issue with them.. I’m not telling you to stop!)

I always used to hide behind layers of makeup to cover up my bad skin.. and would hate it if people noticed a spot and pointed it out.. I got called ugly quite a lot by some of the boys!

So thinking now about reducing the amount of make up I wore was quite a challenge.. even with friends telling me that my skin was good and that I didn’t need any makeup.. I just couldn’t quite believe them.. until recently.. I went to a friends birthday party a couple of years ago and decided that I was going to wear… NO FOUNDATION!! This was a huge step for me as this was my first time!! As I ventured to the party I had sweaty palms and could feel myself getting more and more anxious in case people could give me negative comments… or point out that I had a spot. However, nobody did.. in fact they were all telling me how lovely my skin was looking.. and that I was looking radiant and glowing!! I had NEVER heard this in my whole life!!! I was so happy that I finally said to myself that I was going to reduce my foundation quantity by a lot!

I now only wear either concealer, BB cream or a tiny bit of foundation if I’m having a bad skin day.. and I have found it to have really cleared my skin and help the pores from getting clogged up! (if you have the confidence to do it.. then go for it!! Beauty is always skin deep and not what’s on the surface!) I believe anyone can do it and will still look beautiful! Below is a pic of me when I used to wear a lot of foundation (no fringe/bangs) and a pic of me before the party a couple of years ago (blue dress and fringe/bangs) with NO FOUNDATION!!

4. Skin Care Routine

Skin care itself.. I have become a massive fan of having a skin care regime over the years.. I’ve used my different things all of which have worked, however there have been the occasional few items that haven’t worked for me.

I’ve come to learn that you don’t need the very expensive high end beauty ranges to help your skin.. many high street/drug store items have been wonders too! The main thing that I have found that works wonder is… ROUTINE!! Having a good skin care routine really has helped me.. I cleanse, tone and moisturise day and night.. sometimes in the evening I do 2x cleanses to make sure all of my make up is off from that day. I also use a facial scrub once/twice a week and a face mask once a week – I’m using the Khiels deep pore cleansing facial mask at the moment and its a white clay one.. I find that clay masks really help to dry out any impurities! I’m also a massive Liz Earle fan.. I got some of their products for my birthday in May and have literally been in love!! They are such beautiful products and I’ve found they have really helped my skin a lot! I am running out though so I am going to have to get some more!!

I also wash my face with cool water in stead of warm as I have read somewhere and been told that cool water closes the pores instead of opening them – correct me if I’m doing that wrong.. but it works for me.

I’ve also been trying out the Boots Botantic’s Micellar water and Eye makeup remover… The micellar water is good, takes my makeup off (before I properly cleanse) and doesn’t burn my skin at all (I also suffer with very sensitive cheeks) so I would definitely give that a big thumbs up.. and for only £1-2.99 I think its a bargain! The eye makeup remover however I’m not too keen on.. Its in the oil type formation, like the Clarins one or the Nivea one that I have used and loved.. the Boots Botanics one stung my eyes and I felt wasn’t very successful in removing my eye makeup.. I found myself going through 3-4 cotton pads before my eyes were clean and after that they stung.. So I would not recommend that product to you… The Nivea one is my all time favourite on the high street and just suits me down to the gorund!!

5. Allow your skin to breathe

So my final little tip is… allowing your skin to breathe.. I try to make sure I give myself at least 2 rest days from makeup/foundation a week.. sometimes I can only manage one day but I have felt that allowing my skin to breathe without being clogged up with makeup has also really helped it to remain clear… that’s all I’m going to say on that tip lol.. if any of you go even just one day or half a day without makeup that’s brilliant and will allow your skin to breathe and will thank you for it in the long run 🙂
