Our Wedding Day

WOW!! I’m married!! I will say this in advance that if any of you follow me on Instagram then I’m sorry for the wedding spam.

George and I got married after 8 years of being together on Saturday 22nd June 2019 and it really was THE best day of our lives!

As George says “It was the perfect amount of wedding” we had a short service at our Registry office of choice in Nottinghamshire where I’m originally from and then had Afternoon tea in a marquee in my Grandmothers back garden. It was just perfect for us.

I stayed at my Grandmother’s house with my Aunt a few days before the wedding to get things finished and made ready for the big day. My mum, sister and even dad popped in to lend a hand too πŸ™‚ Mum and my sister came along the day before also, just to get the last finishing details sorted. It looked amazing!

Every morning I’d go to my Aunt and I would go for lovely walk, there’s a small woodland area near the house that has a river running alongside it and it was so relaxing just to get away and listen to the birds. I’d really recommend to all brides to be is to just enjoy every moment and try to stay nice and calm — I’d definitely say that getting everything sorted in good time really helped me to enjoy the build up and stay more relaxed.

The night before the wedding wasn’t wild either. My Aunt, Uncle and I bought sandwiches from the local shop (we didn’t cook because the caterer was already starting to take over the kitchen) and had a picnic in the marquee, it was brilliant! I even had an early night (I had a good nights sleep, but I did have a Nytol tablet to help me relax and fall asleep — haha!) having a relaxed night the night before our wedding was the best idea as it just helped me to a) enjoy everything and b) relax.

The day itself was just amazing and I’m going to stop waffling and just show you how our day was with pictures below πŸ™‚

y next post will be about how I managed my MS during the build up to the wedding, the wedding itself and our mini moon.

Thank you for reading,

Lots of Love

The Final Month… πŸ‘°

Good Morning everyone! Happy Sunday, I hope you have all had a lovely weekend? Whether it’s been a weekend full of galavanting or relaxing at home with loved ones (ice had a mixture of both ☺️

So! It’s the final month before mine and George’s wedding! We can’t believe how quickly it’s come around and I can’t believe that a week today I will be on my second and final hen party (my lovely blogger friend Caz says bachelorette party sounds better so maybe I will call it that πŸ˜…) I like bridal party too.

Everything is coming together nicely, George and I have this week off to do some finishing touches and making things for the day as well as spend time together as we haven’t really done much of that recently with him working night shifts at work.

What’s left to do?

Throughout wedding planning Ive always maintained a relatively calm and collective head (I pray to God that I haven’t been a bridezilla πŸ˜…)

Getting all the big things out of the way and booked first was essential for me to remain stress free.. I’ll never forget the day when my Aunt and I were sat in a coffee shop discussing mine and George’s ideas when a lady came over, said how excited she was for us but also went onto saying “wedding planning is so stressful”

Why does it have to be stressful? Only if you make it so.

I’ve just gone with the flow throughout the whole of this because at the end of the day… This is a marriage… Not a show. That’s my personal opinion anyway.

I like excitement and fun but I don’t like too much fuss and neither does George, which is why our wedding is going to be intimate and lovely ☺️

Most of the things like table signs, seating board, invitations were all handmade by George and I.. he’s very good with logistics and I’m very creative and we’ve both enjoyed that πŸ˜€

The main thing for me about “What’s left to do” is looking after me.. early nights, good and healthy food (I’m reducing my carb and sugar intake — don’t worry I’m not going crazy.. just reducing refined sugars, processed food and no carbs in the evenings.

Having as many self-care days as possible whether that be a full on pamper night or just enjoying my walks to and from work.

The final month in my eyes shouldn’t be stressful and manic because the main things are sorted.. I’m really enjoying all the experiences and excitement of planning and organising our wedding.. enjoy the ride and the build up to your very special day β˜ΊοΈπŸ‘°

Next week’s post will be about my second and last hen party/bachelorette party/bridal party so stay tuned for what I get up to… I have no idea by the way! πŸ˜…

Enjoying my Hen Party with MS.

Good Morning everyone ☺️

Happy Sunday! I hope you’ve all had a nice weekend? Let me know what you’ve been up to.

So… Last weekend I had my first Hen Party with my amazing work friends. If you don’t know what a hen party is.. it can also be called a bachelorette party. A celebration for the bride before the bit day!

Yes… It was my “first” hen party because I’m having two πŸ˜‚ I couldn’t invite all of my work colleagues to the wedding because we didn’t have space, which is fine and why we had this party ☺️

All my work colleagues know about MS and know how it affects me. They are the most amazing and caring bunch of humans and made sure I was okay for my Hen.

One of my best friends who I worked with organised the party. Planning things in the afternoon/evening so that I could rest and prepare in the morning.

What did we do?

Because my friends know that I can’t do too many energetic activities they planned for me to go Punting πŸ˜€ we went to Cambridge, which is a city near us where they have a river going through it. There are these long boats called punts that you can hire to use yourself or have tours around the city.

The weather was beautiful and we had a touring punt. Just sat back and relaxed as we had our tour around the city, drinking prosecco and eating strawberries. I even had a little go a steering the punt! πŸ˜†

Everyone made sure I was okay and chose punting because it was restful for me.

After punting we started the exciting part of the night… Cocktail making!

That was such fun! And definitely where all my energy was used, having fun, laughing and just partying with my friends until quite late πŸ˜†πŸ˜€

So how I Enjoyed my Hen Party with MS?

Firstly the night before…

The night before my hen party I relaxed completely. I had an early night and just got as much sleep as possible (I know for some MSers or doesn’t feel like it helps but it does for me)

The morning of the hen party again I rested a lot. Making sure to just take it easy and get ready in good time.

I know this sounds hilarious but I allowed 2 hours to get ready for my hen.. outfit, makeup and hair.. I allowed 2 hours so that I could just take my time and relax whilst getting ready… Stressing out makes my Ms so much worse so I always try and reduce stress as much as possible.

Then during the hen party, if I needed to rest, I would sit down. My friends totally understood. Also I didn’t get completely drunk!

I don’t like alcohol much anyway and can party without it, but also it makes my MS worse when I do. So I had a couple of drinks but then I moved onto diet coke until 9pm and then for the rest of the night I was drinking tap water.

Water kept me hydrated and enabled me to continue to have a good time πŸ˜€

The final thing I will say and how I enjoyed my hen party with MS… For once I didn’t think about MS. I had a great time and knew that I would just deal with the consequences like most of us do.

Enjoy everything about your wedding if you’re planning one ☺️

Planning a wedding with MS

Hello everyone! Happy Sunday! How are you all?

In today’s blog post I’m going to chat to you about how I’ve managed planning my wedding and living with Multiple Sclerosis.

First thing you should know 1) I’m a planner.. I like to plan things, organise and sort things out.. so planning my wedding along with George was never going to be a problem.

2) George and I have done what we want — that’s the main thing. It’s your day, noone else’s.

The other thing is stress management. Depending on what you’d like for your wedding and how you deal with stress is the main thing.

I’m very lucky that I’ve had friends and family (and George) help me with my planning, without trying to take our day away from us. They’ve allowed me to make decisions and helped me action them.

George has also had his say too, I think it’s important for your husband to be to have a part in the planning of they wish. George wanted certain things for our wedding and we actioned them.

List making is the way forward! Honestly, I’ve made so many lists it’s untrue! πŸ˜‚ And I really love my lists, especially ticking things off.

Try not to let people stress you out and upset you. The one thing I have learned is that I can organise and plan most things.. but people isn’t one of them. When we sent out our wedding invitations, most of our guests didn’t RSVP. I mean, we knew they were coming because they told us before however, it’s just comments decency? That was hard not to get stressed about.. my little OCD brain didn’t like it.. but I learn to just let these these float over.. it’s out of my control so there’s no point stressing about it.

I do meditation everyday, in my own little way.. I don’t necessarily sir on the floor crossed legged and listen to meditation music.. for one I turn my phone off at 7pm at night and leave it on charge downstairs, which really helps me sleep and find some calm.

Also planning ahead. We started planning right at the start.. get all the big things done and booked first like, where you’re getting married and how etc. We did this a couple of months after our engagement, which at the time people thought we were mad.. planning that far ahead however, it reduced the stress so much cause things were all booked and sorted.

Accept peoples help. This might be hard to do for some people, but George and I are very grateful to everyone who has helped bring our wedding together how we’d like it. People will help for no other reason but because they want to ☺️ and if there is another reason or motive.. then do not accept their help.. remember it’s your day ☺️

George and I have always said that we just want to get married.. that means the most to us and that’s what it should mean too ☺️

That’s the one thing I will always say, that it’s your day.. don’t plan someone else’s day.. it’s all about you and your future husband.

MS has been okay really with regards to wedding planning, because I have stuck to everything I’ve mentioned above.

Have I been stressed and overwhelmed? Yes at times I have.. but George is my best friend and he always supports me ☺️

The main thing is to listen to your body, rest, take care, accept help and enjoy the moment ☺️

I hope you enjoyed this blog post and if was helpful/useful for you?

Much love and hugs

New Store, Nana’s Birthday & Works Christmas Party! #weeklyblog

Hello gang! How are you all? I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week!

Today I am putting up the Christmas tree 😊 (well it’s officially December so it’s okay πŸ˜‚) if you celebrate Christmas when do you put yours up?

So this week has been quite busy for me, our new store opened with work so that’s definitely been keeping me busy and learning the new system, however I’m really enjoying and writing lots of notes so that I can refer back to them if I need to (you must all know by now how organised I like my life to be lol!)

We are a great team and we always work well together, helping each other along.. I always say we are like a family!

By Wednesday (my day off) I was feeling rather tired and a little drained — I had been on the go the last couple of days so I made sure that I had a restful day and relaxed as much as possible.

Thursday was super lovely and exciting! It was my amazing Nana’s birthday and I went up to visit her for the day! My Aunt, Uncle, nana and I went out for afternoon tea at this gorgeous country house called Stapleford Park which is near Melton Mowbray and we had VEGAN Afternoon tea, which was so delicious! It was such a lovely day!

Friday I was back at work learning the new systems.. it’s honestly been going so quickly the days have just flown by! I’m really enjoying learning new things and getting stuck in there and then my lovely George met me after work and we went out for dinner together 😍

There was this new Vegan restaurant in town and we wanted to try it out… Unfortunately it was not to our liking.. I had Mac and Cheese (not as nice as Madeleine Olivia’s recipe) and the rest just wasn’t cooked well enough unfortunately.. we are glad that we went but sadly won’t be going back!

(I had Mac and Cheese, Southern fried seitan and vegan slaw) I think it was just too much also.)

Saturday was our works Christmas Party ☺️ we all went out for dinner and just had such a fabulous evening! They all mean the world to me because of how supportive they’ve been with MS. They are life long friends and I wouldn’t want to be without them in my life!

And today.. Sunday. George is working today so me and Arthur 🐈 are relaxing but also…. Putting up the Christmas tree!! Now that it’s officially December I’m going to put it up, whilst having a Christmas film on in the background.. haven’t decided which one I’ll watch yet!

I hope you’ve all had an amazing week! I can’t wait to tell you all about this coming week!! So much is happening!! Stay tuned for next Sunday’s weekly blog post!

Love and hugs always

Life with MS – Trip out, Moving Stores & time with my boys!

Hey Everyone! How are you all? How has your week been this week? And I hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend too!

This week for me has been good but rather hectic too. My current job was taken over by a new company and we are moving into a shiny new store on MONDAY!

Its all very exciting, although feels ever so slightly rushed and a little disorganised (we have a lot of “stuff” in our old place and our new place isn’t as big… So trying to get things in is proving a little challenging, however I think it will be much better for business and once we all know how the systems work properly and feel a bit more settled I think we will be just fine!

I think I just feel stressed because it’s all a little disorganised and out of my control really and for me since being diagnosed with MS I like to have control and I like everything to be organised (maybe it’s a little OCD) yesterday I spent majority of the day sorting and organising the best I could and I was completely exhausted afterwards.. but also happy that I managed to help as much as I could ☺️

Our old store has had many memories and has been a lovely place to work and I’m so grateful that we are all sticking together with the move as it’s the people that make it!

I also went to visit a friend on Thursday, which was nice. Had tea and cake and played chess (I’m better at draughts personally as my Nana taught me when I was little) but it was fun none the less.

We also had a trip out with work for some training, which again was a lovely day but quite tiring come the end of it.

And my George 😍 my George got a little promotion where he works and he’s now employed as a permanent professional and I couldn’t be prouder of him! 😍 Last night we had a cheeky Chinese take away and watched a film (well half of it cause it was quite long) and just had a lovely evening ☺️ of course Arthur was with us having all the cuddles too.

So, how has this week been on my MS?

Well it’s been okay so far, yes it’s been semi stressful and tiring, however I’m so grateful and thankful that I finish at 3:30pm and not 5:30pm.. I’ve been exhausted come 2:30-3pm the last couple of days and fatigue has been playing me up in the evenings but I come home, I get changed into something super cosy.. I make a nice cup of tea and relax with my boys so I’m managing things.. I know my triggers, I know I need to relax and remember my quote “NOT MY PROBLEM” because at the end of the day… It isn’t my problem.. I’m not management.. I’m not the boss.. I’m an employee and I will do as much as I can do with this move but will NOT stress myself out! ☺️

Also one final thing, this week’s YouTube video is all about my Bullet Journal it will be live on my channel at 5:30pm UK time — if you haven’t checked out my YouTube then click on the link below and have a look at my videos πŸ™‚ chatting about MS & hopefully helping people — I’d love to reach 100 subscribers by the New Year πŸ™‚

Let me know in the comments how your week has been and we can chat πŸ™‚

Sending lots of love always

A busy few days with MS

Hello Everyone ☺️ how are you all?! I hope you’re all doing okay. Let me know how your weekend was in the comments ☺️

Well since Thursday just gone, I have been very busy! My social life has been rather active and let me just tell you… I rarely go out and since Thursday I’ve been out everyday! πŸ˜‚

So.. Thursday, I was supposed to meet a work friend for ice cream but as I got into town she unfortunately had to cancel due to her daughter being poorly (these things happen as we all know, especially when having a chronic illness) so I popped into work (I had to go there anyway) and my other work friend had some holiday to use up so we hung out instead πŸ˜‚

We popped to the local pub (I don’t drink) but we had some food and chatted all afternoon, he was leaving the opticians we work in the next day (Friday) and I managed to convince him to have a couple of leaving drinks! I mean he’d been there for years and we all didn’t just want to say “okay bye then”

That was Thursday… Friday I saw my lovely mummy and we popped to B&M (that might be a little like Walmart) for a look around, then I went to hers for a nice cup of tea ☺️. She then dropped me into town and off I went for my work friends leaving drinks. I was home by about 8:30 so stilly managed to get a relatively early night ready for Saturday!

Saturday..

Saturday was busy and amazing too, George and I went to visit his mum on her narrow boat during the day and that was so lovely, so peaceful and tranquil and we were also greeted by a family of swans πŸ˜πŸ’– we had some delicious vegan soup and cake and then we were off home.

Saturday evening was another work friends retirement party πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ and we went to the greyhound racing, we had a nice table that over looked the track and saw some beautiful doggies πŸ’–πŸ˜ we all had such a good night and I was a little later so I wasn’t in bed as early as I’d have liked.. but still worth it!

Sunday πŸŽ„πŸ€ΆπŸŽ…

Yesterday my sister took me to this lovely garden centre as she said it was THE most festive one she’d been to and she wasn’t wrong! It was amazing! And the best part (apart from having hot chocolate) we got to meet the man himself! Father Christmas!! πŸŽ…πŸŽ…πŸ˜€πŸ˜€ It was amazing and we both loved it!

Ans to end my very busy weekend/few days, George and I curled up on the sofa with Arthur and watched The Incredibles 2 whilst having a cheeky Chinese!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this blog post.. my MS symptoms have been good and not too bothersome which is great! I’m a bit tired today, but I meal prepped yesterday so I don’t have to cook for the next few days! Bonus!

Much Love Always

Hannah xx
